We Are Here to Educate

Sep 5, 2025

September starts the Fall with many programs planned and we certainly hope you can attend them. One of the most important things about the Holocaust Education Resource Council is the Teacher Training Workshops. On September 9th, educators will join together to receive the resources and lessons for their classrooms. Since 2006, HERC has continued every year to sponsor this essential Professional Development. From the day it is announced, teachers always ask to attend, as stated by Robin Jones, 5th grade teacher at Hawks Rise Elementary School, “I hate to miss the workshops since they are only once a year. Seeing everyone, hearing from the wonderful speakers, etc. is always a highlight for my year!”

We are pleased to announce that the Lunch and Learn series have been a success with learning important topics such as the origins of genocide, visiting Holocaust historical sites in Poland, and the life of Maximilian Kolbe and his sacrifice at Auschwitz. Look for new sessions and don’t miss the films planned this fall.

ANNUAL REMEMBRANCE DINNER – Don’t forget to attend the Annual Remembrance Dinner on October 28th.

Thanks to Susan Turner for her generous sponsorship of this year’s Remembrance Dinner distinguished guest speaker, Dara Horn.  This important event financially supports all the upcoming education programs for 2026. We need to increase the resources available to our schools and teachers. We should join together to ensure that all future generations understand the ramifications of unchecked hate.  We can only accomplish all of this with your support!

Think about contributing toward the HERC endowment and leaving a legacy for future generations. Your gift is important to help build a better world. Your gift will make a difference to every student touched through the years.

Our role is incredibly difficult and incredibly necessary. Education Matters.
