HERC will soon offer Florida Panhandle teachers an incredible opportunity to receive a micro-credential in Holocaust education. HERC is inviting educators from districts across the Panhandle to participate in this groundbreaking micro-credential program.

In partnership with Humanus Network, HERC is creating a micro-credential program for educators to strengthen teachers’ Holocaust pedagogy. A micro-credential is a competency-based recognition demonstrating an educator has mastery in a particular area.

This program features a one-day in-person kickoff followed by six virtual meetings spread out over the course of six months. Educators who complete the program will receive:

• A micro-credential in Holocaust pedagogy;

• A multitude of resources to use in their classrooms;

• Proven educational strategies to effectively and confidently instruct students about the Holocaust;

• Professional development hours; and

• A stipend for successfully completing the training.

HERC is planning a kickoff event on October 13, 2022 at Tallahassee Community College for teachers interested in participating in the program. The kickoff is open to any educators who wish to attend and receive a deep knowledge about HERC and the micro-credential educators who complete the program will earn.

Following the October kickoff event, HERC will provide a series of six virtual training sessions. The sessions will be two-to-three hours long and will conclude in April. HERC’s goal is to have elementary, middle, and high-school teachers from each district complete the program.
