Florida’s new state budget for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 that took effect July 1 dedicates $300,000 for HERC’S educational mission. The Florida Legislature approved and Gov. Ron DeSantis in June signed the state’s $110 billion budget, passed during the 2023 Legislative Session.
State Rep. Allison Tant and State Sen. Loranne Ausley championed including the funding for Holocaust education and teacher training in the Florida Panhandle in the state’s new spending plan.
“HERC deeply appreciates Rep. Tant, Sen. Ausley, the leaders and members of the Florida Legislature, and Gov. DeSantis for recognizing the importance of our mission,” said HERC Executive Director Barbara Goldstein. “These critical resources will provide a significant boost to our work in support of instruction of the history of the Holocaust for educators and students by expanding training and professional development workshops across the Panhandle.”
