Professional Development Conference on Holocaust Education Coming

Jun 6, 2022

The 23rd annual professional development conference on Holocaust education will be held June 20-21st at Tallahassee Community College. Our theme this year, “Expanding How We Teach About the Holocaust: New Topics and Media,” represents an opportunity to reflect on our obligations to honor the memory of Holocaust victims, preserve the factual record of the Holocaust through education, and to make this history relevant decades later. Participants include educators from many disciplines and schools will receive a variety of books and materials. This conference, will prove to be a strong vehicle to promote the mission of Holocaust education over the years. We always include the relevance of the Holocaust; the shrinking population of Holocaust survivors; a future without Holocaust survivors; time constraints on educators for required subjects in their curricula; and the challenges of Holocaust denial and rising tides of antisemitism. We must continue to carry the torch of remembrance through education. We want to highlight the best of humanity when the worst was there. By restoring a human face to the victim, we can underscore their resilience and ultimate survival. We have the obligation of transmitting the lessons from this event for present and future generations in all educational settings. Inviting all teachers to attend.
