Upcoming School Trips
The lessons learned during our last visit were immeasurable, providing a tangible connection to history and reinforcing vital educational objectives. Witnessing history firsthand greatly enriched our students’ perspectives and understanding. Teachers who have my previous students were amazed by how much they knew during Holocaust Education Week last November. They were surprised to find out about the Holocaust Museum in Tampa because of the knowledge the students gained from the visit – Ciara Stephenson Gadsden County High School
The Florida Holocaust Museum, located in St. Petersburg, stands as a testament to one of the darkest periods in human history. It serves as a crucial educational resource, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the impact of the Holocaust and its enduring relevance in today’s world. For students, in particular, a visit to the museum is an invaluable experience that goes beyond textbooks, fostering empathy, critical thinking skills, and a commitment to preventing atrocities like the Holocaust from happening again.
A visit to the museum challenges students to engage in critical thinking and moral reflection. Confronted with the harsh realities of the Holocaust, they are prompted to question how it was able to happen and what factors contributed to the rise of hatred and prejudice. Students are encouraged to ponder their own individual and collective responsibilities in preventing horrors while developing a deeper understanding of the importance of promoting justice, equality, and human rights.
HERC is proud to be able to provide local schools with the opportunity to bring students to the Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg this spring. We currently have trips scheduled for COAST Charter School and Gadsden County High School, who attended last year and reached out to be sponsored again this year.
A visit to a Holocaust museum is a transformative experience that will help to shape the worldview of the students in attendance, and it is an experience that we are thankful we are able to provide. Help us support more trips like these by donating today!
